Thursdays 4 Love (Saint Lazarus Bar)

It’s been a rough ride but I ended 2017 on a good note hanging out at one of fishtown’s hot spots Saint Lazarus Bar with DJ Matthew Law spinning at Thursdays 4 Love.

Funny Sunny Weekend

SPICE C Philly

It’s been all rain and no shine in the City of Brotherly love the past few months but this past weekend I got the chance to have my very own Funny… Sunny… Weekend. A good friend of mine hung out with me and we decided to hit up China Town  to grab a quick bite from a sports bar Bar-Ly. before we headed over to the Trocadero to see stand up comedian Ron Funches  . He was in town on his “Funch-a-Mania” tour making the crowd laugh (and my cheeks hurt) as he shared his love for Dwayne “The Roc” Johnson and cracked small jokes about his current weight lose. You can find Ron on NBC’s Powerless TV series as himself or catch him on tour in your City.

After all that laughter I was dreadfully hungry so we decided to stay in the area and grab dinner at SPICE C Chinese restaurant and order the Hot Pot spicy seafood bowl, Szechuan chicken and crab Rangoon and literally pigged out. We got there close to closing time so we ordered, gobbled as much as we could and headed over to Milk Boy to sip some cocktails and watch the NBA finals Cavaliers (137) vs Warriors (116) game. Soon after the game we ordered another round then called it a night. I don’t get a chance to get out much due to my busy schedule so when I do I take advantage of the full day given and have myself a Funny… Sunny… Weekend!.

Nick Grant performing LIVE! at Kung Fu Necktie May 3, 2017

Last night! I grabbed a quick bite to eat from Front Street Cafe before heading over to Kung Fu Necktie to see Hip-hop artist Nick Grant who performed (Click Here) for the first time in Philly LIVE! at Heineken Green Room event  feat… singer/producer Kamau and DJ Kitty Cash Wednesday May 3, 2017. DJ Kitty Cash warmed up the party as the crowd waited patiently for Nick Grant to take the stage. It was a relief to my ears to finally hear some real hip-hop BARZZ!.I wasn’t able to stay much longer to take a few flicks and capture any of Kamau’s performance but I will keep my ears open and keep you all posted.

Actor’s Workshop (New York)

October 15, 2016 New York 7:51 a.m.

It’s 3:30 A.M. and I’m gathering my back pack to head to New York City for David E. Talbert’s Acting Workshop & Talent Search . I got only 3 hours of sleep but that didn’t matter, I was too excited on the inside to worry about sleep. I arrived in New York ahead of schedule which gave me enough time to grab a hot tea and take my time searching for the hotel without the mad rush. The night before I did my hair to make sure I looked the part but thanks to the New York City wind it didn’t come out to well. I was expecting my natural curls to pop but I remembered I had my trusty head band and some bobby pins in my bag so I just went with my usual go to “Puff Ball”, well “Moppy Ball” LOL hairstyle and continued on with my day.

I had no idea what to expect when I arrived I just came with an open mind and an open heart to receive insight on what it takes to become the #NextGreatTalent. Mr. Talbert is a hilarious guy who worked his way from the bottom to now being able to give an opportunity to folks such as myself. There were actors, singers and comedians in the room with the hopes of having an opportunity of a lifetime and I was glad to be one of them. We couldn’t take many pictures due to the confidentiality of the workshop but the memories I experienced on that day will last a lifetime. I got the chance to meet Actress/Comedian Kym Whitley  and Actor Clifton Powell aka “Pinky” LOL. They were both in the City working on their individual projects and so they decided to stop by Mr. Talbert’s workshop to give us aspiring actors/actresses some advice about wanting to apart of the entertainment industry.

We learned a lot about the pros and cons of the business and how hard we each have to work at our crafts in order to make it. There were many questions asked like, “How does one get noticed?”, “What do we have to do be the next great talent? and the answer given was simple, “Hustle”. We were told to keep doing exactly what we have already been doing and being at the workshop was one of them. Hearing that from a man who became successful from hard work made me look at all that I have done thus far and I now know that I’m on the right track. I used to think that all the hard work I was putting in was or naught because i wasn’t seeing the results in the time I wanted, but I had to realize that many of the greats have gone through worse than I ever have in order to make it. I had a copy of my book A Rose Forever Thorned ready to give to Mr. Talbert but the workshop went an 1 hour over schedule and  time was ticking plus I had a scheduled bus ride home.

The overall experience was just awesome and I wouldn’t change it for anything in this world. All who attended including myself will have the chance to audition for a stage play and a movie in a matter of weeks and I’m just elated. I came with the spirit of a dreamer and I left with the spirit of a dreamer whose dreams are now a reality.
