The Rise of a Phoenix

New Breed Events The Rise of a Phoenix Monday, December 8, 2014 turned out to be just what the ‘SOUL’ ordered. The band was giving mad flavor and the vibe in the place was making the atmosphere straight Groovy. All my music lovers know what a “POWER HOUSE VOICE” sounds like and my new favorite girl on the list is Kenya Shalise who opened up the show giving us nothing but the very essence of Eryah Badu and Ms. Jill Scott she owned the stage with her soulful crisp vocals. I felt like I was at a funky “Soul Sista” event for a minute listening to the voices of Kamilah Long and Keran Sabir. I wonder how D’Yon Musiq felt being outnumbered by the women but that didn’t phase him one bit because he grabbed the mic and tore the house down too. Hitting them high notes and having my girl the hostess with one of the brightest personalities I’ve met in a while Parris Love going crazy.
Place Local 940 had a packed house that night with some veterans and newbies waiting to hear what “New Breed” is all about. My favorite guys Hazie Blu get’s all the love and more for doing a great job and having their special girl doing a little background vocal action which was more than awesome and I appreciate them so much for allowing me to share the stage with them. I would like to give a BIG thank you to Tony Moore for stepping in giving the guys some encouragement and words of wisdom to take into the New Year 2015. Can’t wait for another New Breed event!
